Camille has been in over 90 plays professionally, including Othello on Broadway with James Earl Jones and Christopher Plummer. Favorite roes include: Miss Burstner in the Obie Award winning K-Impression of Kafka’s The Trail: Off Broadway, Katherine in The Foreigner at Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire at Capitol Rep, Hennie in Awake and Sing with Nancy Marchand at Playwright’s Horizons, Natasha in The Three Sisters at The Lion Theatre Company, and The Tattooed Woman in Talking With…at FATE. She has appeared in numerous TV episodes, MOWs and independent films including ER, Beverly Hills 90210, Roseanne, Melrose Place, Golden Palace, LA Law, Newhart, Copper Women, My Life Begins at the End of the World and most recently, Critical Condition. Ms Ameen is also a voice-over artist and has been heard in animated films, commercials, children’s records, and internet programs.
She first met Sal Romeo when she became a member of the award-winning Friends and Artists Theatre Ensemble (FATE) in 1988. She established a new play development program for the company and dramaturged Metropolitan Prairie, which went on to win a Dramalogue award for writing.
Camille has had the pleasure of teaching acting and voice at Sal Romeo’s Acting Workshop since 1989. Ms. Ameen uses the acting approaches of Stanislavsky, Strasberg, Meisner, Chekov and Hagen, as well as guided imagery, mind/body connection, awareness of breath, meditation and on-camera techniques.
She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke in Theatre Arts & Speech. In New York, she studied voice with Pat Mullen and Ruth Lienau. Her vocal teaching is primarily influenced by the work of Kristin Linklater. However, she has gathered many exercises over the years and her approach to voice includes Yoga, Chi Gong, Visualization, and Cecily Berry exercises among others.
Camille is also the Co-founder and Co-Director of Inside Out Community Arts, a theater-based Arts program for at-risk and underserved youth and their families.
